| India's 6,000-year-old stone carving tradition has left the world a wondrous wealth of sacred art and architecture. Karnataka in the south west of India is especially famous for its ancient, intricately carved Hindu temples and its master stone carvers or Shilpis. the Shilpis are descended from generations of hereditary sculptors who practice an ancient and formal tradition of carving where ritual and symbolism play important roles. |
| This 14 day journey will introduce you to the magnificence of the Karnataka's temples. You will visit all of the most important sites in the area and with Ganesh's vast experience you will gain a unique insight into the temple carvings and architecture. |
| You will also have the opportunity to visit Local sculptors and a school for disadvantaged children where they are tought the carving traditions, thereby giving them an occupation and some security. |
