| In Hindu mythology the goddess Lakshmi was churned up from the sea of milk as a great gift and represents prosperity, abundance, light, wisdom, beauty, grace and royalty. Lakshmi has many forms or aspects and is herself an aspect of Shakti the feminine principle and mother goddess. She is associated with the lotus flower and is the eternal consort of the god Vishnu. |
Lakshmi inspired the name for this company by her association with fulfillment and beauty. When founder and director Kim Wood first journeyed to India, she was overcome with a sense of the beauty and light of the people and how a rich spiritual heritage infused their daily lives no matter how desperate their situation. |
